A14 is a specialized laboratory for consulting and guidance in the field of original printing and art publishing, which accompanies each project from the initial concept to the final output.

Thanks to a long-established network of professionals, A14 can handle projects using traditional and digital printing techniques and numerically controlled machinery.

The aim of A14 is to promote and encourage the use of traditional techniques, integrating them with experimentation and interdisciplinarity between languages and media.

The use of different media and the creation of unique works are combined with the creation of original multiples and limited editions.

The atelier offers the possibility of developing projects in:

Chalcography. Intaglio printing.

Metal substrates/matrix: copper, brass, zinc, aluminium, iron. PET and plexiglass.

Xylography/ Woodcut.

Wood and linoleum substrates/matrixes.

Lithography and alternative processes: Gumprint, Prontoplate, Mokulito and photosensitive plates. Flatbed printing.

Substrates/matrixes in stone, paper, polymer foils, wood and photosensitive laminates.

Printing with hand presses on all formats up to large formats of 2 x 1 m. 100% cotton papers, 50% cotton papers, fabric and leather.

Silkscreening. Permeographic printing. 

Giclè Printing/Fine Art printing. Digital ink-jet printing. 

Mineral inks on 100% cotton paper.

When one speaks of a limited edition artist's book, one immediately thinks of the European illustrated book tradition of the early 20th century, whose fundamental elements are the use of typography, original plates (intaglio, xylography, lithography), precious papers and materials. Tradition accompanies us in the production of these books and new technologies contribute to increasing the possibilities of invention. It is up to the artist to respect, transgress or even reinvent the rules according to his own intentions.

We offer assisted or independent residencies for periods of research, providing an ideal environment for the development of ideas. We welcome visual artists, designers, photographers and creative people from all backgrounds and experiences, providing them with the opportunity to experiment with new techniques and modes of expression in a collaborative atmosphere.

For those who wish, it is also possible to share the results through an open day, transforming the creative process into a moment of encounter and confrontation.

A14 organizes educational activities in its spaces, with the aim of sharing research and creative processes. It also hosts professionals from different artistic or cultural fields, thus aiming to enrich the educational offer and give added value to those who decide to participate in the various initiatives: including short workshops, meetings.

Workshops usually take place at weekends and can be run with groups of up to 6/12 people.

Meetings can be organized with a larger number of participants, even during midweek days.

The atelier participates in external activities such as fairs, print demonstrations, workshops, presentations and conferences; and organizes cultural exchange projects with also educational development with public and private institutions in Italy and abroad.

The atelier reserves the right to accept young trainees for short periods, annually renewing agreements with academies or private institutes.

Guided consultation of the archive of over 300 prints and more then 400 editions, among books and limited edition works.
