Collaboration with Giorgio Upiglio

The introduction with the Grafica Uno print shop dates back to 1986
In 1986, the Grafica Uno studio in Milan, Giorgio Upiglio's historic print shop, celebrated its 25th anniversary with a major exhibition at the Rotonda della Besana. On this occasion, Daniela Lorenzi met Giorgio Upiglio for the first time. These were the years when she attended the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, where she graduated in Painting with a thesis already focused on the relationship between printer and artist.

The time that Daniela Lorenzi spent in the print shop on Via Marco Bruto is characterized by simple frequentation, while she makes her first print runs when the Atelier Upiglio temporarily moves to Via Manzoni. On the occasion of the opening of this new location, also equipped with an exhibition floor, several large-format print runs are made with artists such as Lee Ufan, Mimmo Paladino and Shiao Chin. However, the real collaboration begins only in the following years, starting in 1997.

Among the most significant realized projects: the book Ladro di Sogni by Sandro Martini, entirely printed with Daniele Upiglio, and the printing for the Wifredo Lam archive that took more than two years to complete.

It is worth mentioning limited editions by artists such as: Julio Paz, Alik Cavaliere, Piero Leddi, Alberto Burri, Mimmo Paladino, Shiao Chin, Medhat Shafik, Mario Benedetti, Angela Occhipinti, Corbacciò and many others; with contributions from authors such as Arturo Swarz, Roberto Sanesi, Alda Merini and Edoardo Sanguineti, among others.
